Social and Cultural Traits in Singapore

Social Singapore is the third most densely populated country in the world and 42% of the population were born overseas, making it sixth highest in terms of foreign proportion of population. In 2005, 50% of Singaporeans spoke Mandarin as their mother tongue, with 32% speaking English, 12% speaking Malay, and 3% speaking Tamil. Singaporeans are generally bilingual, with those who do not speak English at home often speaking it as their second language.
