Financial Considerations Spain was badly affected by the recent global financial crisis, and was required to seek outside financial assistance from the EU. According to the World Bank, Spain has a GDP of US$ 1,349 billion in 2013 (declining annually at a rate of 1.4%), which works out at US$ 29,200 per capita. Inflation is 2.4% in terms of the consumer price index (CPI) and 0.1% in terms of the GDP deflator.
