Healthcare The CIA World Factbook reveals that the United Kingdom has 2.74 physicians and 3.3 hospital beds per 1,000 people, and the average UK citizen has a life expectancy of 80.29 years (78.16 for men & 82.54 for women). The OECD states that 8% of the United Kingdom's GDP is spent on public health, with a further 1.6% of GDP spent on private health.
