I have an Argentinian driving licence and am looking to get a car in the UK. Can I use my licence, or do I need to take a UK test?

Your licence will be good to use for a year, but after that you'll have to pass a UK driving test

I hire using Zipcar instead. Cheap rates, and I don't have to worry about doing a UK test. There's also quite a few other similar companies.

So, if you buy your own car, you have to get a license within a year. Otherwise, you can drive with a foreign license as long as you don't have your own car? Is that accurate? Won't you eventually have to get a UK license?
