Expat Information: Health Emergencies for Expats

Many countries have a single emergency telephone number, usually consisting of three digits so that it can be easily remembered and dialed. A smaller number of countries have differing numbers for each emergency service, so it is important to know the appropriate ones for your location. 112 is the most common number for health emergencies in Europe, with the exception of 999 in the United Kingdom (also popular in other countries worldwide). 911 is the prevalent emergency number for North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
