British Embassy Creates Social Media Channels For Expats In Spain

By Editorial 26 November, 2013

The British Embassy in Spain has established new social media channels on Facebook and Twitter to engage with Britons living in the country and to publicize news and advice from the Embassy and from partner organizations.

The Embassy says that the new channels will be regularly updated with useful and independent information tailored to local demand, and provide open forums for the British community in Spain to look for and share tips and experiences across the country.

Simon Manley, who is the UK's new Ambassador to Spain, said that the new channels were "the perfect way for Brits living in Spain to get more information about the issues that matter, and to comment on them so that we can engage better with our nationals living abroad." He encouraged Brits to "reap the benefits" of a new way of communicating with the Embassy and each other.

The Facebook page is named "Brits living in Spain," and the Twitter channel is @BritsliveSpain. The Ambassador also has his own Twitter account, @SimonManleyFCO.

This week will see Manley undertake his first official visits to Malaga, Alicante and Barcelona, ahead of visits to the Spanish islands in the weeks ahead.
