Credit Suisse Hedge Fund Index Up In September

The Credit Suisse Hedge Fund Index climbed 1.27 percent in September, rebounding from a 0.54 percent decline in August. In the year to date it was up 5.35 percent.

Of the sub-strategies tracked by the index, Long/Short Equity posted the biggest gain in September with 2.64 percent. The strategy was up 10.74 percent in the year to date.

The next best performers in the index were Event Driven, up 1.45 percent, Multi-Strategy, up 1.42 percent, and Emerging Markets, up 1.28 percent. The year-to-date gains of these strategies were 10.17 percent, 6.62 percent, and 4.18 percent respectively.

The biggest monthly decline was suffered by Dedicated Short Bias (5.52 percent). Its year-to-date drop was 21.92 percent. Managed Futures was the only other loser, falling 0.15 percent in September and 7.39 percent in the year to date.
