HSBC Expat is seeking participants for an online survey that will be used to form league tables on expat finances, quality of life, and the best places for expat families.

The 2014 Expat Explorer survey will be the seventh of its kind, and HSBC Expat describes it as the largest global survey of expats. HSBC Expat says it wants to hear from all kinds of expats, including those who live abroad due to work or marriage, and expats who have retired to another country.

HSBC Expat says that the online poll, which is administered by YouGov, takes about fifteen minutes to complete, and will create a "comprehensive picture of expat life all around the world." It adds that, by sharing experiences, participants will be helping other expats and those thinking of moving abroad to better understand the challenges and opportunities involved. The survey will be open until May 9.

The previous survey, published last year, attracted 7,000 participants. It revealed that Thailand was the top location for expat experience, and that Germany and Singapore were the best places for raising children. Switzerland and China came top for income. The findings are presented in the form of an interactive tool, which allows readers to compare results across a range of sub-categories.
