France's Prime Minister, Manuel Valls, has confirmed that he will not be taking action to introduce votes for expats in local elections.

The introduction of local election voting rights for resident expats was an election pledge of French President François Hollande in 2012.

Speaking earlier this week, Valls confirmed that he will not be pursuing this measure and that it will not reemerge during the forthcoming presidential election.
