The Passports That Open The Most Doors

A new "passport power" index published online may aid expats in deciding upon whether to switch their citizenship.

The index, compiled by Arton Capital, a financial advisory firm, compares passports in terms of the availability of visa-free travel.

Based on this criterion, the most "powerful" passports are those from the USA and the United Kingdom. A UK or US citizen may enter 147 countries without a visa. French and German passport holders were close behind, affording holders visa-free entry to 145 countries.

Among Asian nations, South Korea is the highest ranking country, also with a score of 145. The lowest scores are given to some of the world's poorest nations, such as Ethiopia, Myanmar, and South Sudan
