UK Property Draws Expat Investors

Specialist expat adviser deVere Mortgages has said that overseas buyers made up 75 percent of their inquiries for UK properties in the first quarter of 2015.

Tom Elliott, deVere Group's International Investment Strategist, explained that currency weakness against the dollar is making Britain less expensive than it previously has been. London is becoming cheaper than other elite cities for international property portfolio investors. "For this reason, interest has been particularly strong from expatriates from Russia, the Far East, the Middle East, and the US," Elliot said. "Individuals are taking advantage of the economic recovery, continuing strong demand growth and limited new building due to planning rules."

London remains the most popular UK area for expat buyers.
