How to Learn Swedish - My experience

By everythingsweden
23 March, 2016

Learning Swedish is hard, especially outside of Sweden.

I think its very important to learn the local language but most people speak English here so you can get by without.

I wrote a guide on how to learn Swedish a while back where I go into more details about how and where to learn Swedish, as well as a few of the resources I used. Here are my top tips:

  • Take a course - the government offers courses that you can get paid to attend to learn Swedish
  • Watch TV and read newspapers
  • Watch kids TV
  • Real outloud to practice your pronounciation
  • Listen to popular music
  • Attend language meetups

Swedish is a great language once you crack it and it is very similar to English in its structure.

Lycka till!

I have read your Swedish language learning guide. Nice tips, thanks for sharing. Will try TV and online resources for sure.
